Homeland: The Netherlands

I went to visit Grandma last night to find out a few things about my family and our homeland. We stayed up late, looked at lots of old pictures, tried to read Dutch, and talked about who is still around and worth going to visit while we are in Holland.

Congratulations Mark!! You win top prize. Grandma loves you and thinks you're great! And that works out nice since we are coming to see you!

I learned all sorts of things from Grandma: how many siblings she has, how many siblings Grandpa has, their names, birthdates, children. I even learned the names of my Grandma's Grandparents: Joannes Voet and Johanna Hermsen, and Cornelis van Mourik and Maria Benschop. Those are the names of my great-great-grandparents!!! Not that most of you cared about that...

I also learned that Zeist and Bunnik are going to be valuable places to go visit. It turns out that the same church that my Grandparents were married in, has the graves of many of my family members in the cemetary in the back! Nifty.

So we're going to see where we come from. I know that I come from these people...

...but I guess I want to see where and how they lived. Nifty.

I'm getting excited. Very Excited. I need to learn how to say excited in Dutch. I should learn how to say hello first I guess...
